TOMASO ALBERTINI

Italy

In December 2015, Tomaso Albertini left Milan, Italy, and moved to New York City to pursue his artistic vision. The move proved transformative, reshaping both his personal journey and his creative practice.

Soon after arriving, Albertini began developing a distinctive approach that would become his artistic signature—a seamless fusion of sculpture and painting.

New York’s streets and social contrasts became a profound source of inspiration. The city’s vibrant colors found their way into his palette, while the stark juxtaposition of wealth and poverty shaped the emotional intensity of his work. His pieces often reflect this surreal coexistence, capturing the tension and energy of urban life.

Albertini’s portraits are crafted using cardboard—an emblem of New York’s consumer culture. By building three-dimensional forms from this humble material, he sculpts the figure itself, then paints directly onto it as if it were a canvas. This hybrid technique bridges the gap between two disciplines, giving his work a dynamic, sculptural presence.

Albertini has exhibited internationally in cities including Milan, New York, Miami, and Dubai. His innovative style has been featured in major publications such as Vice and The Guardian.
